Online shopping has now become a lifestyle, where everyone must have made online transactions. Especially with the COVID-19 Pandemic, which requires people to limit outdoor activities, making people transact more online. There are 98.3 million online transactions, an increased of 18.1% compared before COVID-19 pandemic recorded in March 2020 in Indonesia (Bank of Indonesia, 2020)

Unfortunately, this activity turns out to be able to actively contribute to accelerating climate change and harm our earth through the carbon footprint that is generated as a result of the use of energy for shipping and packaging waste. A large number of packaging will become waste and the more types of transportation used - boats, planes, cars, motorbikes - until the goods arrive at their destination, produce large carbon emissions. Just imagine, if the entire transaction above requires packaging with a weighing of 0.5 kg and has a delivery distance of 300 Km, then the carbon footprint spread over the earth is 1.00266e10 kg CO2e or equal with 65.662 million Marine Mangrove Trees Plantation needed to offset.

To address the carbon footprint resulted from online purchases, Carbon Addons comes with a Carbon offset financing scheme, which allows consumers and businesses to offset their carbon footprint by adding carbon add-ons funds whose value has been equalized by the carbon footprint calculation before checkout their purchase of goods. These funds will be used to compensate for the carbon footprint by channeling it to renewable energy project developers and tree plantations that have long-term and sustainable effects. The system of Carbon Addons is a plugin software application that is integrated into target market systems such as e-commerce, retailers, courier services and transportation services, where every consumer and business will have their own dashboard to support transparency of funds as well as can track and monitor the progress of the use of funds and the impacts generated from the use of funds.
